Absolute surrender. We talk about it in Presence Point workshops, we ponder it when we sing the hymn, “I Surrender All,” and we think we’ve done it. Until we realize we haven’t. The unexpected call from a doctor, the surprising decision of a child, the unexpected result of a plan you were confident you heard directly from the Holy Spirit to put into motion. And you’re challenged to trust. Fully. Deeply. Completely. That’s a journey that Doug and I are on right now, and it’s a journey that Jon Lewis writes about in his article Directed Steps, below. I encourage you as a shepherd leader not to save this one for later, not to delete this email, but to soak it in. Read it slowly. Contemplate where you are in the surrender process. Maybe you’ll realize the Good Shepherd is doing more in your journey than you ever anticipated. And you’ll be grateful.
All to Jesus, I surrender
All to Thee I freely give
I will ever love and trust You
In Your presence daily live
