Have you ever really thought about what our Jesus did to become our Emmanuel – God WITH us?
… Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God
a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant,
being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself
by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
Philippians 2:5b-8
Our Good Shepherd…
…humbled Himself anyway
…chose obedience
…sacrificed His desires
…gave up His position
…was born into humanity
…became a servant
…loved His enemies
…counted others more important than Himself
…knew torturous, undeserved death was His goal
…made Himself nothing
Once again, the Advent season has reminded me that to be like Christ – to shepherd well – I must…
…humble myself
…choose obedience
…sacrifice my desires
…give up any position that I may claim
…become a servant
…love my enemies
…count others more important than myself
…make myself nothing
Will you join me in this endeavor?
