Sent a Savior

The world is out of step with God. We need a Savior who can rescue us, who can save us, who can get us back on track – individually and collectively.

But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” -Luke 2:10-11

On the first Christmas, the shepherds were in the field watching their flock. Can you imagine something as exciting as watching sheep sleep at night? But they had to be there because of the predators, the wolves and thieves that would come in.

And then suddenly, the Bible tells us, there was an angel there and the glory of God shone around them, and they were afraid. But then the angel said, “Fear not!”

“Fear not!” Why? Why should we not fear? The angel said it is because “I bring you good tidings; I bring you good news of great joy which shall be to all people…”

And then there is that supernatural news, “For unto you is born this day in the city of David … a Savior who is Christ, the Lord!”

The world is out of step with God. We need a Savior who can rescue us, who can save us, who can get us back on track – individually and collectively. A Savior is born! The shepherds recognized and worshiped Him. Those who do the same today have nothing to fear in this world… or the next.
