Shepherd in Action, Adam Alfredson

Adam met Doug and Holly at a Presence Point shepherding workshop in Iowa. He’s a husband and father to five children, and ministers to kids through Youth for Christ in Polk County, Florida. Adam works hard to teach kids how important it is to love themselves, as well as what self-love actually looks like. He also teaches them to take pride in and to honor their last name as an opportunity for good, and for God’s glory. He and Holly discussed how white Americans can shepherd more effectively in the space of racial injustice. Adam encourages shepherd leaders to keep an open mind, to be willing to learn, and to be super-intentional in their actions. One example he gives is the importance of noticing a person’s eyes and body language more than their words because we can often only see hurt, or sadness or pain, instead of the smile they’re trying to put on their face.

Presence Point

Presence Point equips leaders to intentionally live into their calling as shepherds in the lives of those they lead, and partners with multipliers to do the same within their sphere of influence.
