“This is a wonderful entrée to Gospel conversations that we can use at work!” exclaimed a woman who is Chief of Staff for an executive of a well-known medical corporation, as she looked at a 30-Day Shepherd Leadership Challenge and commented on The Leader’s Shield.
“This comment made my heart sing,” noted Holly Culhane, Founder, and CEO of Presence Point, Inc. “Although I had used that tool in a number of business settings while working in the for-profit segment, I hadn’t used it as often in that regard after joining Presence Point full-time. It encouraged me to keep expanding the reach of the shepherding message.”
Crossroads Church in Santa Clarita, California, hosts a monthly event for Christian women in the workplace and invited Holly to share with the ladies regarding Influencing Team Members using the Shepherd’s Perspective. She introduced the ladies to the concept of shepherding and the importance of understanding the universality of this Biblical influencing/leadership concept. Discussing how shepherding applies to every area of our lives, including laterally with our peers and upwardly with those we report to – influencing opportunities often neglected outside of the tradition hierarchical form, Holly introduced and explore The Leader’s Shield and the three pivotal elements of shepherding – Provision, Protection, and Presence.
Melding the concept with how God has wired us all a bit differently, as noted in Romans 12 and I Corinthians 12, the ladies explored behavior style differences. Building out a How We’re Wired graph, the ladies better understood how we’re similar, the priorities we share, how we’re different and, using the shepherding concept and The Leader’s Shield could better meet the needs of those we influence at work, at home, or in our communities, by utilizing Provision, Protection, and Presence.
